Manual Update Process
It is NOT necessary to uninstall CryptoPrevent v7.x prior to installation of v8.0. You may do so if you wish, however the v8 setup process will upgrade necessary components as well as convert existing configuration settings.
Shortly after you start CryptoPreventSetupV8.exe, you may see the screen below if you are using the email alert functionality.
Simply select the second option “Do not close the applications” and click the Next button.
Note, if you just click Next without selecting the second option, the installation will appear to stall for a minute, and you will receive an additional prompt that the service could not be stopped. This is also OK, just proceed with the installation!
Soon after you will see this small screen:
…indicating it is updating your existing v7.x configuration settings to the v8.x format, and after this brief process, you will be prompted to restart your PC.
After your PC restarts, you may launch CryptoPrevent from the desktop icon or Start Menu to verify your settings and have a look around.
